- 120 ml lukewarm milk
- 5 g instant yeast
- 300 g bread flour
- 20 g caster sugar
- 2.5 g sea salt
- 1 large egg
- 30 g unsalted butter, softened
- Sesame seeds, for sprinkling
Instructions
Activate Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine lukewarm milk and instant yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Mix Dough:
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, egg, and activated yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead Dough:
- Add softened butter and knead for 10-12 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
First Rise:
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Shape Buns:
- Punch down dough, divide into equal portions, and shape into balls. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Second Rise:
- Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes, or until puffy.
Bake:
- Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F). Brush buns with milk or egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 10-13 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve:
- Let cool slightly before serving.
