Irresistible Dark Brown Sugar Caramel Delight

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups dark brown sugar, tightly packed
  • 1 cup golden syrup
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 teaspoons heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla essence
  • 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Melt the Butter
    • In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, melt the butter over medium heat, ensuring it doesn’t brown.
  2. Combine Ingredients
    • Stir in the dark brown sugar and golden syrup, mixing until well combined. Continue stirring until the sugar dissolves completely, forming a smooth mixture.
  3. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk
    • Gradually pour in the sweetened condensed milk while stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  4. Simmer
    • Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens slightly. Be careful not to let it burn.
  5. Incorporate Cream and Flavorings
    • Remove the pot from the heat, then whisk in the heavy cream, vanilla essence, and salt. Adjust the salt to your taste.
  6. Cool
    • Let the caramel sauce cool slightly before serving. It will thicken as it cools. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
