Easy Homemade Dirty Rice: A Comforting One-Pot Meal

Ingredients

Scale

  • 45 cups cooked rice (prepared with chicken broth)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3/4 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 3/4 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 23 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 12 cups chicken broth (if needed for moisture)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the Vegetables:
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced green bell pepper, yellow onion, and minced garlic. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Cook the Beef:
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break up the meat as it cooks, and drain off any excess grease.
  3. Combine Ingredients:
Stir in the cooked rice, paprika, cayenne pepper (optional), salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  4. Add Moisture:
If the mixture is too dry, gradually add chicken broth until the desired consistency is reached.
  5. Simmer and Serve:
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.
