Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage
4 slices white bread
1 cup whole milk
2 large eggs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 cup regular bread crumbs
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Optional: additional block of mozzarella for stuffing
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare Bread: Soak bread slices in milk for 5 minutes.
Mix Meatloaf: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, soaked bread, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried herbs, eggs, and bread crumbs. Mix well.
Form Meatloaf: Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan. Press half the meat mixture into the pan. Optionally, add a block of mozzarella in the center. Top with the remaining meat mixture.
Add Sauce and Cheese: Spread tomato sauce over the meatloaf and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Bake: Bake for 40 minutes, or until cooked through and cheese is bubbly and golden.
Rest and Serve: Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
