- 8 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 1 cup salted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup mini pretzels
- 1 cup chocolate chips (optional, for a sweeter touch)
Instructions
- Prep the Oven: Preheat oven to 250°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine Rice Chex and pretzels.
- Make the Caramel: In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and corn syrup. Bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and baking soda.
- Mix it Up: Pour caramel over cereal mixture and stir until evenly coated.
- Bake: Spread mixture on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Cool and Enjoy: Let cool completely. Add chocolate chips if desired. Break into clusters and store in an airtight container.
